Rev. Arthur John Lockhart (May 5, 1850 - 1922) was a Canadian poet who worked as a minister.

Life[]
Lockhart was born in Lockhartville, Kings co., Nova Scotia,[1] the oldest of 8 children [2] of Elizabeth Ann (Bezanson) (1819-1900) and Capt. Nathan Albert Lockhart (born 1819).[1] (Lockhartville was named for his grandfather, Nathan Lockhart.)
He married Adelaide Beckerton on May 12, 1873.[1]
He published poems, articles, and essays in various periodicals, under both his own name and the pen name of "Pastor Felix."[3] He is the author of two collections of poetry under his own name.
He kept up an 18-year correspondence with Canadian poet and novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery, but his letters have not been recovered.[2]
He died in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1922.[4] (Some sources give 1926 as his year of death).[3]
Recognition[]
3 of his poems – "Entry of the Minstrels," "The Vale of the Gaspereau," and "Icicle Drops" – were included in the 1889 anthology of Canadian poetry, Songs of the Great Dominion.
