Clare Pollard (born 1978) is an English poet and playwright.[1]

Life[]

Pollard grew up in Bolton. She read English at the University of Cambridge.[1]

Pollard was included in the "New Poets of 1996" at age 16.[1] She published her debut collection, The Heavy-Petting Zoo, with Bloodaxe Books in 1998, at age 19.[2] She has gone on to write 3 more collections.

Her play The Weather was performed at the Royal Court in 2004,[3] and her radio documentary, My Male Muse, was broadcast in 2007.[4]

Her most recent project is the Bloodaxe young poets showcase, Voice Recognition: 21 poets for the 21st century which she co-edited with poet James Byrne.[5] She is a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Essex University.[6] She was the judge for the 2013 International Hippocrates Prize for Schools.
