Dr. Constantine Barber (1714 - March 13, 1783) was an Irish poet and physician.

Life[]

Youth and education[]

Barber was a son of poet Mary Barber.[1]

He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin,[1] entering the college in 1729, being elected a scholar in 1732, and earning a B.A. in 1734.[2]

He then studied medicine at the University of Leiden,[1] earning his M.D. in 1738.[2]

Career[]

He became a professor at Trinity College Dublin,[1] and was elected King's professor in 1747.[2]

He was 3 times president of the College of Physicians in Dublin,[1] in 1754, 1764, and 1769, and was elected a fellow of the College in 1782.[2]

He died 13 March 1783.[2]

Writing[]

He published poems in his mother's Poems on Several Occasions, 1735.[1]
