Craven Langstroth Betts (1853-1941) was a Canadian poet and prose author.

Life[]

Betts was born in Saint John, New Brunswick,[1] the son of Sarah Ann (Purdy) and Hiram E. Betts.[2] 

He was educated at the Saint John Normal School in Saint John.[1]

He taught school for some time in Westmoreland County, New Brunswick.[1]

In the 1880s he moved to New York City to pursue a literary career. He worked on the staff of The Youth's Companion.[1]

He married artist Elizabeth Cushing Colby in 1905.[2]
