Edward Lewis Davison (1898-1970) was a Scottish poet and academic.

Life[]

Davison was born in Glasgow.

He emigrated to the United States in 1925, and became an academic at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he was involved in the Colorado Writers 1937 conference. He was a friend of Robert Frost.[1]

Poet Peter Davison is his son.[2]

He was widely published as a poet in the 1920s, was featured in the J.C. Squire anthologies Selections from Modern Poets, and became known as a writer of sonnets.

Recognition[]

His "Be Thou At Peace" has been set to music by John Raynor.
