Rev. Edward Rolle (1703-1791) was an English poet and cleric.[1] He served as prebendary of Salisbury Cathedral.[2]

Life[]
Youth and education[]
Rolle was the son of Robert Rolle, a gentleman of Devon.[3]
He matriculated at New College, Oxford, on 10 July 1723. He earned a B.A. in 1727, an M.A. in 1730, and a B.D. in 1758.[3]
Career[]
Rolle became rector of St. John's, Wiltshire, and vicar of Moorlynch, Somerset, in 1758.[3]
He became prebendary of Salisbury Cathedral in 1771, and served in that position until his death on 30 June 1791.[3]
Recognition[]
Robert Dodsley included 5 of Rolle's poems in his Collection of Poems in Six Volumes; by several hands.[1]
