Life[]
Mittal was born in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1983.[1]
She grew up in Nigeria. She has also lived in India and New Zealand.
Her earliest book was published when she was 13.[1] In 2001, at age 17, she was chosen by Alistair Paterson as featured poet in Poetry New Zealand.[2]

Writing[]
In Poetry NZ, Alistair Paterson called Mittal "at 17 years of age a remarkable talent," whose "work shows a maturity of vision and a technical skill rarely found among poets twice her age." Paterson compared her talent to " Arthur Rimbaud, who at the same age (17 years) leapt onto the literary stage."[2]
