Smoking wit Sylvia Plath

Foodstamps (stylized as foodstampsfoodstampsfoodstamps...) is the upcoming album by American trip hop artists Plot Holes. It is to be their first release not labeled as a mixtape but rather a "studio" album.

Background[]

Foodstamps was announced just a week after releasing their mixtape Smoking wit Sylvia Plath.[1] At the tail end of Sylvia Plath's production, Little had been working on a few tracks that he originally hoped would be included in their next release. But Little had hoped to possibly sell their next release off as something 100-percent their own and not use songs with beats from YouTube videos, so Little scrapped the tracks and instead planned on using them for a deluxe release of Sylvia Plath sometime in the future.

In the Facebook post that announced the album, Little stated that he hoped to "capture a different sound with Foodstamps, a vibe of witchy trip hop mixed in with some soft gaze hopefully". The post also said that production was so early "production hasn't even started yet"; he had hoped to officially begin its production with Burkley present, but in November, while recovering from an ear infection, he began to work on new music that he hoped would be for Foodstamps.

Release[]

Between the release of Sylvia Plath and Foodstamps' announcement there was little to no information given from either Little or Burkley about the album's progress. On June 11, 2018, Little released an "ominous" short teaser featuring a clip of new music on their Facebook page.[2]

Album cover[]

The artwork for the album was revealed in the same post that announced Foodstamps publicly for the first time. The cover features Burkley and Little standing under the title written numerous times in a pink Times New Roman font while the photo itself has been edited to give it an odd translucent haze reminiscent of an album of shoegaze music. Burkley is seen giving a salute while wearing a Boston Bruins cap with a stern facial expression while Little smiles coyly at the camera.
