Gillian Allnutt (born 15 January 1949) is an English poet.
Life[]
Allnutt was born in London, but spent much of her childhood in Newcastle upon Tyne.[1]. She now lives in Esh Winning, co. Durham.
Recognition[]
Her books Nantucket and the Angel and Lintel were both shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize.
In 2001/02 and 2002/03 she was a Royal Literary Fund writing fellow, partly at Newcastle University.
In 2005 she was the 4th winner of the Northern Rock Foundation Writer's Award.
She was awarded the 2016 Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 2017.[2]
