J.D. "David" Carpenter (born 1948) is a Canadian poet and novelist.[1]
Life[]
Carpenter was born and raised in Toronto. He began writing at 19 years of age.[1]
He attended York University, receiving a B.A. in 1971, and then Queen's University, Kingston, receiving a Bachelor of Education in 1972.[1]
He taught high school English for 25 years.[1] He published his earliet book of poetry in 1976, and 3 more by 1990. In the 1990's he began writing novels, publishing 4 between 2001 and 2008.[1]
He lives in Prince Edward County, Ontario.[2]
Recognition[]
Campbell's debut novel, The Devil in Me, was a Globe & Mail best-seller, and was nominated for an Arthur Ellis Award.[3]
