Lucie Brock-Broido (born May 22, 1956) is an American poet.

Life[]

Brock-Broido was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received a B.A. and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.F.A. from Columbia University.[1]

Brock-Broido is Director of Poetry in the Writing Division at Columbia University in New York City.

Recognition[]

She has received many honors, including the Witter Bynner Poetry Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Harvard Phi Beta Kappa Society Teaching Award, the Harvard-Danforth Award for Distinction in Teaching, the Jerome J. Shestack Poetry Prize from American Poetry Review, two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, and a Guggenheim fellowship. She was described as an Elliptical Poet by critic Stephen Burt.
