Mrs. (Ann?) Bindon was an 18th-century English poet.

Life[]

Little information is available on Mrs. Bindom. She is known for a poem by Sir Charles Hanbury Williams, "To Mrs. Bindon at Bath," complimenting her on her poetry. Williams's poem, a poem by her ("Mrs. Bindon's Answer"), and a further answer by him ("Sir Charles's Reply"), all published in Robert Dodsley's Collection of Poems in Six Volumes; by Several Hands (1763). Her poem was written before Pope's death in 1744, and may have appeared in the New Foundling Hospital for Wit (1743).[1]

A "Letter from Mrs. Ann Bindon, to Mr. Ralph T—sse," dated "Bath, June the 11th, 1740" was later printed in the Monthly Magazine.[1]

William Prideaux Courtney, who wrote Dodsley's Collection of Poetry in 1910, identified her as ""possibly the wife of David Bindon, M.P. for Ennis, who died at Limerick on 22 July, 1760."[1]
