Life[]

Casey was born in London, England, to Irish parents.[2]

In 1956 his family moved to co. Wexford, Ireland, where he grew up, living first in Screen and later in Hollyfort.[3]

As a teenager he lost a leg due to complications following intense radiation to treat cancer. He began writing verse by composing songs with a guitar in his hospital bed.[4]

As an adult, he spent several years in Barcelona, Spain.[4] His play, Cardinal, was performed in Hamburg in 1990. His novel The Fabulists has been translated into German and Japanese.[2]

In 2014, he founded his own imprint, eMaker Editions, to publish his back list and all future work.[2]

He lived in Dublin, where he tended to Irish Writers Online and other websites in his spare time.[2]

He died on 4 February 2018 in Blanchardstown Hospice, Dublin, aged 67.[1]
