Robert Hershon, is an American poet.

Life[]

Hershon was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City.

He has published 12 books of poetry. His work has appeared in the American Poetry Review, Poetry Northwest, the World, Michigan Quarterly, Ploughshares,[1] and The Nation, among many others.[2]

He worked as the executive director of the Print Center and is a co-editor of Hanging Loose Press and Hanging Loose magazine in Brooklyn. He has edited various collections, including Smart Like Me and Shooting the Rat, collections of High School writing.[3][4]

He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Donna Brook.

Recognition[]

Hershon is the recipient of various awards, including 2 creative writing fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Billy Collins included Hershon's poem "Sentimental Moment or Why Did The Baguette Cross The Road?]" in his 2003 anthology, Poetry 180.[5]
