Sandy Madaris is an American singer, musician, and songwriter.
Life[]
Madaris was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her father was a singer who performed with the Madaris Family Quartet on the same stage as the Oak Ridge Boys, The Statlers, the Chuck Wagon Gang, and The Jordanaires.
She began singing professionally at age 14, and at 17 moved to Mobile, Alabama. Her band "Hickory Wind" travelled the U.S. for 7 years, and attracted the attention of Willie Nelson and Jody Paine.
She has since performed with various artists including Percy Sledge, Wet Willie and David Jaurequi, a guitarist featured in several David Lynch films.
Madaris is enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University where she is studying criminal psychology – an interest that arose out of her volunteer work in the Tennessee prison system. She has also taken an active part in the anti-death-penalty movement in Tennessee.
