Sarah E. Day (born 1958) is an English-born Australian poet and teacher.[1] She was the poetry editor of Island Magazine for several years.
Life[]
Day was born in Lancashire, England, in 1958 and grew up in Hobart, Tasmania.[2][3] She graduated from the University of Tasmania, and then taught English and creative writing. For some years she was poetry editor of the Tasmanian literary magazine Island.[4]
Recognition[]
Day's first volume of poetry, A Hunger to Be Less Serious (1987), won the Anne Elder Award. Her 2004 collection, The Ship, won the Queensland Premier's Award and the Judith Wright ACT Award (2005), and the University of Melbourne Wesley Mitchell Wright Prize.
