The anthology was jointly edited by Gillian Allnutt, Fred D'Aguiar, Eric Mottram, and Ken Edwards, respectively concerned with feminist, Black British, British Poetry Revival, and younger experimental poets. The time frame involved was 1968-1988.

The book's general editor was John Muckle, the founder of the Paladin Poetry Series.
