Life[]

Boyd was born in Carlingford, co. Louth..[1]

He contributed poetry to the United Irishman.[1]

Frank O'Connor wrote in The Backward Look (1967) that Boyd "appeared on the Irish scene in the year 1906, and then seems to have disappeared entirely. No one seems to know where he came from or where he went to, though he wrote two or perhaps three of the best poems written in that incomparable decade."[2]

Writing[]

Boyd's Poems (1906) made use of Gaelic folklore.[1]

Recognition[]

His poetry was included in A Treasury of Irish Poetry, edited by T.W. Rolleston and Stopford Brooke (1900), and Irish Literature edited by Joseph McCarthy (1904).[2] His work was also included, by W.B. Yeats, in the Oxford Book of Modern Verse, 1936.
