Unfinished Monument Press was a Canadian small press.
About[]
Unfinished Monument Press (UMP) was founded by poet Chris Faiers in 1978, with "intentions to publish more radical poetry than was generally published in Canada at the time." The first book it published was Faiers's first chapbook, "Dominion Day in Jail."[1]
Poets who published first collections with UMP include James Deahl, Bruce Hunter, Daniel Jones, Lynne Kositsky, Robert Priest, and Wayne Ray.[2] In 1991 Faiers gave the imprint to James Deahl and his wife, Gilda Mekler. Deahl and Mekler expanded the roster of poets, printing works by Milton Acorn and Raymond Souster.[2]
